Welcome to Rob Francis Wildlife Artist & Photographer
Hi I'm Rob Francis I was born in a little village in the Kent countryside and spent a lot of my childhood living on the Romney Marsh in Kent. Wildlife was around me day in and day out so it was no surprice that an interest in nature has developed over the years. But it's a sad fact that much of the wildlife I knew then is in decline. I can remember as a boy standing and looking up in to the sky looking for a skylark as it sang it's heart
out. I have always had the desire to draw wildlife with the big cats as my favourite, but an Industrial accident left me with a disability and I find it difficult to draw for any length of time. I started the photography as an aid to the drawing as many artists do for reference, but found it an
exciting challenge to try and get that special photo. The passion for photography became stronger and over took the drawing. I'm self taught as both an artist and as a photographer but always ready to learn new things. I have been semipro since 2007 after having to give up the job I was doing due to a disability.
